2 Types Of Fire Suppression Systems To Install In Your Commercial Location

Construction & Contractors Blog

If you own a commercial location, then it is very important that you have all of the necessary safety features in place. This protects your building and those inside of it in the case of an emergency. One such emergency situation that you must prepare for is a fire. There are certain fire suppression systems that you can have professionally installed in your commercial location by a contractor. Here are two types of fire suppression systems to consider:

Water Sprinklers

Water sprinklers are essentially an irrigation system installed in the ceiling of your commercial location. These sprinklers are generally located in every room and will turn on automatically in the event of a fire. Some of these sprinklers have water always ready to go in their pipes, while others release the water into the pipes as soon as a fire occurs. These sprinklers do an excellent job of putting out a fire quickly and effectively. This can reduce the amount of damage the fire causes, which can save you thousands of dollars.

Fire Extinguishers With Dry And Wet Chemicals

Another option to consider is a fire suppression that uses either dry or wet chemicals. These chemicals are generally located inside of different fire extinguishers, making it easy for you to get the chemicals and the quantities that you need. Dry chemicals are excellent to have on hand if water will not help put out the fire, or if water is not available to you. This type of chemical is great for something like a kitchen fire because a lot of the time water is not going to help put out a fire in your kitchen. Wet chemicals are great for putting out fires because they react with the fire immediately and then turn into a foam once they come in contact with the fire. This stops the fire in its tracts and can quickly put it out. If you have some type of mechanical fire, this is a great chemical to use. The fire extinguishers containing either of these chemicals should be located all over your commercial location, thus allowing a fire to easily be put out, no matter where it originates from.

Having a water sprinkler system installed throughout your commercial location, as well as fire extinguishers filled with either wet or dry chemical combinations mounted on the walls, can make a huge difference in the event of a fire, by saving both your business and the lives of your employees.

Construction Needs in Times of Disaster

I live in the middle of the desert, so I never thought that flooding would be a problem. However, a few months ago my town was hit with a huge storm. These freak storms are called "Hundred Year Storm" because the chances of them happening are once in a hundred years. Needless to say, no one was prepared for the aftermath--especially not the city sewage system. All this extra water had no where to go, and suddenly, I found my basement flooded. It wasn't a fun experience, but we dealt with it the best we could. Since then, I have spent a lot of time looking into different options for sewage, water lines, and other related things. We're now even looking into building a new house. This blog is the result of my ongoing research.
