Is Your Garage Door Problamatic? Potential Solutions

Construction & Contractors Blog

Just like other operating systems around the house, your garage door needs to be maintained, or could even need replaced if it's more than 10 years old. If you are currently having issues with your opening system, or you don't like the door, it may be time for an upgrade.

There are many things to consider when you want to improve the garage door, maintain the system, or have it replaced. Talk with a garage door maintenance and installation company about the following options so you can improve the function of your door, and help with other concerns.

Cable and Unit Inspection

If you don't think the door needs replaced but you can see the cables are rusting, have the garage professionals come to your home to take a look. They may be able to replace the cables before you end up stuck in or out of the garage because you have a snapped cable. That can be an annoyance, but it can also be very dangerous if the cable were to break with someone or something under it.

If the garage door opening unit isn't working well, have the experts look at that as well. If it needs many components to be repaired, or if the experts say it's time for an upgrade, you want to look at a new unit.

Chainless Options

There are chainless options you can look at, and the door is opened by a belt. The belt doesn't have to be oiled like a chain, and it isn't as loud. This makes it easier to get in and out of the house early in the morning or late at night without disrupting others, and the belt doesn't shake and rattle like the chain can.

New Insulated Option

If you don't like your garage door either and you want a new door and opening system, make sure you get a door that is insulated. Not only does this help with heating and cooling efficiency if the garage is attached to the home, but it's also going to keep moisture out of the garage. The less moisture, the less rusty items in the garage are going to get.

If you are displeased with the garage door or the opening system that you are currently using, it's time for upgrade (from an outlet such as Bicknell Garage Door). This is going to improve the home, a new garage door can add curb appeal, and you'll know the door is safe.

Construction Needs in Times of Disaster

I live in the middle of the desert, so I never thought that flooding would be a problem. However, a few months ago my town was hit with a huge storm. These freak storms are called "Hundred Year Storm" because the chances of them happening are once in a hundred years. Needless to say, no one was prepared for the aftermath--especially not the city sewage system. All this extra water had no where to go, and suddenly, I found my basement flooded. It wasn't a fun experience, but we dealt with it the best we could. Since then, I have spent a lot of time looking into different options for sewage, water lines, and other related things. We're now even looking into building a new house. This blog is the result of my ongoing research.
